In a groundbreaking move to combat rising energy costs and reduce carbon emissions, Torfaen County Borough Council in Wales has launched an innovative scheme offering EndoTherm, our cutting-edge heating system additive, free of charge to eligible households.

This initiative aims to help low-income families and those on benefits stay warm this winter while simultaneously lowering their energy bills and environmental impact.

The Domestic Heating Energy Efficiency Scheme

Torfaen Council’s newly introduced Domestic Heating Energy Efficiency Scheme is set to revolutionise how residents heat their homes. By incorporating EndoTherm into central heating systems, the council is taking a proactive approach to energy conservation and cost reduction.

Gary Meale, Torfaen Council’s Community Decarbonisation Officer, explained the significance of the program: “According to the Energy Saving Trust, the average household heating bill is around £600 per year, excluding standing charges. However, this will rise with the increase in the price cap.” He added, “EndoTherm has been evidenced to reduce home heating costs by up to 15 percent or more per year. As the additive can last in excess of 10 years and with future energy prices likely to rise, this could equate to around £1000 across the lifetime of the product.”

How EndoTherm Works

EndoTherm is a revolutionary additive that enhances the efficiency of wet central heating systems and boilers. When installed, it allows heating systems to heat up more quickly and maintain higher temperatures for longer periods. This improved performance translates directly into energy savings and increased comfort for residents.

The installation process is remarkably simple and non-disruptive, taking only about 10 minutes to complete. Despite its quick application, the benefits are long-lasting, with the potential to save households up to £168 annually on their heating bills.

Eligibility and Application Process

The scheme is targeted at residents who are most in need of support. Eligible applicants include:

  • Households on low incomes or receiving benefits.
  • Those who have experienced energy debt.
  • Individuals with health conditions exacerbated by living in cold homes.

Both homeowners and private renters with wet central heating systems or boilers can apply for this free initiative.

Funded by the UK Government, the scheme is expected to benefit approximately 70 households in the Torfaen area. Interested residents are encouraged to contact Gary Meale at Gary.Meale@Torfaen.gov.uk for more information or to submit an application. The deadline for applications is set for Friday, November 1, 2024.

A Step Towards a Greener Future

This initiative aligns perfectly with broader efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote energy efficiency. By implementing EndoTherm in homes across Torfaen, the council is not only helping residents save money but also contributing to significant reductions in carbon emissions.

The scheme represents a win-win situation for both residents and the environment. As energy prices continue to rise and concerns about climate change grow, solutions like EndoTherm are becoming increasingly crucial in our transition to a more sustainable future.

Looking Ahead

The introduction of this scheme in Torfaen could serve as a model for other councils and local authorities across the UK. As the success of the program becomes evident, we anticipate growing interest in EndoTherm from both public sector organizations and individual homeowners looking to improve their energy efficiency.

For those outside of Torfaen who are interested in the benefits of EndoTherm, our product remains available for purchase. The potential savings and environmental benefits make it an attractive option for anyone looking to optimise their heating system’s performance.

As we move into the colder months, initiatives like Torfaen Council’s Domestic Heating Energy Efficiency Scheme highlight the importance of innovative solutions in addressing energy poverty and environmental concerns. EndoTherm is proud to be at the forefront of this important work, helping to create warmer homes and a cooler planet.

How the Calgary Board of Education cut heating gas use across 56 schools

The Calgary Board of Education is one of Canada’s largest school districts, with a building portfolio that relies heavily on natural gas fired hydronic heating. The decision to pilot EndoTherm followed a competitive assessment of available efficiency measures and a commitment to evidence-based investment of public funds, a bar that shaped every phase that followed.

What MilliporeSigma’s EndoTherm Projects Reveal About Energy Efficiency in Life Sciences Manufacturing

Hydronic heating systems are widely used in commercial buildings, circulating heated water through boilers, pipes, and heat exchangers to provide space heating. While equipment efficiency has improved steadily over time, the thermal performance of the circulating fluid itself is often overlooked.
